     Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) Main Campus distributes the smart campus equipment to the different colleges at the NISU Gymnasium on October 10, 2022.
     The Smart Campus Project is approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and is part of the funding in Republic Act 11494 or "Bayanihan to Recover as One Act" which was envisioned to help State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) for the flexible learning modalities during the Press Conference and Virtual MOA last July 25, 2021.
     "Through this project, NISU will be a digital workplace that will elevate the students’ intuitive experiences driven by a digitally connected community," said Dr. Defacto.
     The project was spearheaded by the team leader, Dr. Alma R. Defacto, Vice President for Academic Affairs, together with Engr. Zircon S. Culilang and Dr. Felicisimo V. Wenceslao, Jr.
     “The proposal which started in November 2020, was approved by CHED with an allocated fund of 15 million to help NISU improve the facilities in preparation for the hybrid classes,” Engr. Culilang noted.
     Originally, the proposed budget was 25 million pesos to cover all the external campuses of NISU but was only given 15 million pesos to prioritize the improvement of NISU-Main Campus.
     As stipulated, the project includes various components namely LMS Cloud hosting and Setup; Internet Connectivity (50mbps direct internet); Campus-Wide Fiber Optic Backbone; Computer Laboratory Facility and LAN and Smart Classrooms.
     Among the beneficiaries were the College of Education, College of Engineering, College of Industrial Technology, College of Information and Computing Studies, College of Management, College of Hospitality Management, College of Fisheries and Allied Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, and University Library.
     Furthermore, some of the facilities and equipment were already distributed to other colleges during the accreditation.
     The VPAA also stated that a Smart Campus Project Part 2 will be launched in December 2022.
